While the cyclone season was supposed to be over, on Thursday December 16, 2021, Typhoon RAI devastated the Philippines. Pronal decided to come to their aid by making a donation of flexible tanks.
What happened in the Philippines?
It was the 9th typhoon since the beginning of the year in the Philippines and the second of the category 5 “super typhoon”. It started in the center of the country in the Visayas region. With winds ranging from 185 to 230 km/h, it passed on the way of tens of thousands of villages in a radius of about 400 km, tearing off roofs of houses, electricity poles and trees.
Bringing storm surges and heavy rains, this typhoon caused a lot of damage:
-
- nearly 400 dead
- more than 500 injured
- 250 missing persons
- 482 000 houses damaged or destroyed
- 500 000 people homeless
Moreover, a new threat has appeared, after the provision of food, water and clothe, 140 people fell sick, probably because of contaminated water.
Therefore, the Philippine government would need a flexible tank to contain drinking water in order to hydrate a part of its population which is now homeless.
Donation of drinking water tanks
Therefore, we decided to help this country. We contacted the Philippine government and offered them a donation of several water tanks.
Equipped with water distribution ramps, these flexible tanks will help the victims by supplying them with drinking water during the reconstruction period. A delegation from the Philippines came to France to receive these tanks which will undoubtedly save lives.
The flexible tanks allow the inhabitants to avoid walking for miles with heavy cans. In fact, its water distribution ramps make it possible to hydrate a maximum number of people at any given location.
Unlike our other flexible tanks, these are made with special fabrics that allow us to integrate drinking water and therefore fit for human consumption. All our tanks are easy to use. Thanks to our wide range of products, we have something to meet your needs.
We send all our support to the people affected by the disaster and hope that these flexible tanks will be useful to them.
